It took 9 months for me to realize that I can & will love again. It took another 4 months for me to realize that I might not be loved again.

On Abstaining From Alcohol & Self-Assertion
lenachen:
Rachel Kramer Bussel blogged today about how drinking (or not) shouldn’t be a big fucking deal:
I despise the “You don’t drink?” question when meeting new people. It seems to come with a tinge of “What the fuck is wrong with you?” Maybe I’m projecting, but still, it definitely comes with a tinge of, “You are not like the rest of us.” I mean, really - pregnant or not, can we just drink...

I REALLY need to clean my turtle’s tank this weekend. I couldn’t find him earlier today, the water is so opaque with algae.

Dear Chase,
Your “supervisor” Maria’s best customer service line was, “We would hate to lose you as a customer, but there is nothing I can do to help you.” When questioned why I should bother opening a Chase account, she gave me no reason. All I needed to be happy was my first set of checks for free (valued around $24), but she couldn’t even do that for me....
I think I actually need a planner now.
The next few weeks at work are beginning to blow up. Like, seriously. The first week of April, I’m helping with a refresh Monday afternoon, then going to a Leadership training course for 3 days (T-Th), then flying out Thursday night to upstate NY to help with a standards training (F-Sa), then flying back Saturday evening, and Monday I’m helping with another refresh after work. Plus, my...
Met a guy at work the other day who totally understood AND AGREED with my dislike for the west side. Besides downtown, near work. But he totally sided with me regarding places like Meatpacking and Midtown West.
Bought the most comfy dress from Old Navy today. But it’s about 2 inches too long. Should I pay to get it hemmed (which would likely cost more than the dress itself)? Or, try to do it myself? Decisions…

New Role: Activities Coordinator
Today I coordinated and executed a little March Madness Shoot Out. Basically, customers got 3 attempts to make a basket (from Toys R Us, suctioned to the window), if they scored, they got a prize ($5 coupon). It was pretty fun, and actually a great workout for me (chasing around the little basketball… awesome). And the word spread! A couple guys actually came down to the cafe to try it!...

DOH Letter Grades in NYC
The Board of Health approved the new regulation that requires restaurants to post inspection letter grades at the entrance. This has been the topic of converation at many safety & sanitation meetings during the past few months, and will no doubt continue to be a hot button. My issue with the required postings is that no supporting information is required. Meaning, if a restaurant posts a...
the problems i face
It’s supposed to be a high of 63 degrees tomorrow, so I want to wear a skirt, but everytime I do, my employees make comments that make me feel slightly uncomfortable.
So I’m sitting in front of my computer, still sweaty from the gym, thinking how incredibly hungry I am and wishing I took a grapefruit from work. It’s beginning to get late, so I decide to just look at my fridge, longingly at the empty shelves (except for 1 Heineken, 1 Saratoga Sparkling Water, 1 expired Gatorade and 1 Chocolate Truffle), hoping it’ll satisfy my grumbling...

i’m apparently 3 episode behind himym, when i thought it was just 1… and i can’t find episode 15 anywhere online… sad!
I realize I’m a bit late to this trend, but I am finally loving leggings. I mean, they are just so comfy! And versatile! And they don’t give that whole scrunched and crowded feel when worn stuffed into boots! Fantastic!

Got in a really nice lunchtime walk — an easy 1.5 miles in 22 minutes. Not too hard of a workout that I sweat too much and stink up the office, but fast enough to feel like I did something. My friend had to cancel our Zumba date tonight, but I’ll still go. It’s fun and gets me movin’ different muscles than my running/elliptical/stairclimber workouts. But...
It’s sad that during the week, I have to make a conscious effort to ensure I soak my contacts for at least 6 hours. I should sleep more.
Best part of today (besides actually getting outside in the beautiful weather and walking through a rally and getting goosebumps from all the workers chanting “Build it now!”): going to the gym, thinking Biggest Loser is on Wednesdays and therefore fretting about what to watch and realizing it’s on tonight. I think the cutie on the elliptical next to mine though I was crazy...
Online Dating?
I am seriously considering joining the subscription services of Match.com. I have already created the free profile, but have yet to fully commit to actually paying for a subscription (which would allow me to actually email other people & be emailed). I’m debating for a few reasons. First off, my coworkers are telling me that I’m too young for it and I should be going out to meet...
I have a goal! I want to lose 10 pounds. I haven’t officially picked an end date. I suppose I should. My co-workers suggested 1 month, but I’m doubtful about the probability of success. It took me 6 months to lose 5 lbs, so let’s be realistic.
The problem with scooping up old fashion magazines from the hallway recycling bin is that you can’t exactly wear/follow the trends mentioned, as they are likely for the wrong season.
In other news, it’s 2 days into March and I still have not received my March Vogue. Wtf?

So far, I’ve had a pretty rockin’ birthday, and there is still more fun to come! Tuesday I had dinner with my parents then my mom took me to see Wicked. AMAZING show, totally worth all the hype, and I am just in awe of people’s talents to sing & dance, etc. Thursday night I went out to dinner with Adam and Lauren to Dos Caminos, where we had a deliciously filling dinner for...

Lately, I’ve had a difficult time writing new posts. Not because there aren’t things happening in my life, mundane or not, but because I’ve lost motivation. For the past 6-ish months, I’ve been an emotional rollercoaster. Between the changes going on at work and in my personal life, I feel myself being pushed and pulled with every change. And usually now, on weekends, when...

well, that's a first.
Whether it was due to my positive change in account (which also means more walking to commute and more time for the gym), change in eating habits (large lunch, small/no dinner), unfortunate circumstances (I surprising didn’t gorge myself on ice cream after getting dumped) or some combination of it all, I managed to actually lose weight at the end of 2009. Which is exciting for me. But also...

oh, 2010.
So far, this new year hasn’t been off to an ideal start. However, the great thing about starting each day, is that it can all change. So while I may be a little delayed in beginning my new year, at least I’m realizing that change is necessary.
I stopped making resolutions when I realized they didn’t matter. Resolutions are meant to be broken. What I need are decisions. I need...
i heart free stuff!
on my way back from the gym this afternoon (I love Monday holidays!), i picked up a free tshirt being handed out to promote the new CW show, Life Unexpected. the shirt’s an XL so i’m not sure when i’ll actually wear it, but look, i’m mentioning the show so i guess it paid off for them.
This weekend I purchased a set of free weights. Coupled with my (free) yoga mat and balance ball, I have a nice little gym set-up going. Now I just need the space and motivation and I’ll be good to go!
